by Renee Ahdieh
Summary from Goodreads :

One Life to One Dawn.

In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad's dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph's reign of terror once and for all.

Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she'd imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It's an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid's life as retribution for the many lives he's stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?

Inspired by A Thousand and One Nights, The Wrath and the Dawn is a sumptuous and enthralling read from beginning to end.

The Wrath and the Dawn has been around since last year while I was in reading-slump and so many people love this book. The story seems very interesting and intriguing, and the cover is very pretty too, so I'm kinda curious to know if it lived up the hype or not.
Although maybe it would be stayed for a little while after I got it, I certainly cannot wait to see this beautiful book on my bookshelf =D

So what's your Wishlist Wednesday this week?
Have a nice day everyone! =D
HAPPY (BELATED) NEW YEAR 2016~~~!

I hope everyone will have another great life and accomplish one or two or more target(s) this year! *AMEN*
I've stopped making resolution list since forever ago and just walk my life as how it flows. I'm the most unambitious girl, I know =p and a thing about my life is : things I've planned tend to not work really well, most of them fail miserably coz there are always spontaneous things happen in between and I'm kinda mood-swinger and bipolar person =__= . But yeah I still hope i can do my best in life (again) this year, and especially related to this blog, I hope I could read more books and *maybe* write some things here. I have abandoned my shelf and practically my dearly blog for quite a while and suddenly I started reading around 2 months ago and I realized how I missed this T^T.

I've read some sexy books in last 2 months : Katie McGarry's Pushing the Limits and Dare You To, which are VERY GOOD and I REALLY love btw ♥ (finally found a new favorite contemporary series, yay!) 8D, and the last book of the sexy Sweet Tetralogy, Sweet Temptation ♥
Because I enjoyed them a lot I have plan to write reviews of them, maybe in summary to tell you why I love these books =D

As for my kpop and fandom life, on 2nd day of this month my sister and I attended K.R.Y concert, YAY!
So let's talk about this a 'bit' =)

(I'm taking some photos and fancams but since I sat a bit too far and my fancams are too shaky it's better for me not to share them, huhu)

I've never thought they would come and hold a concert here in my country as an SJ sub-unit so I was pretty much excited, because in my opinion 3 of them have the best and most distinct vocals in industries. And I really love SJ's ballad songs which mostly sung by them. You can call me biased coz they are from the most beloved group of mine but in reality you barely could find voices like theirs in any other idol group ;)). Especially I really love Kyuhyun's voice since I heard him on his debut days ♥. He's not my bias but I have this spot softer than marshmallow here inside me for him.

We bought the cheapest tickets which located at the most far section ^^; Well, we thought this concert would be the chilled one because their songs are entirely ballad so we just needed to sit and enjoy the show altho it's a bit far from the stage; and we were so lucky to get them because when the time ticket was sold, the website was crush pretty badly it took me around 30 minutes to access it, and that cheapest section was immediately sold out in the very day. Maybe this was the most tiring online-ticket-reserving I've ever done in my entire life lol

Unexpectedly, the section we were sat on was not that far from the stage (unlike at SS4 which I practically used big screens to see them in big picture). I was quite hyped up in a ballad concert with no dance or explosive performances like the usual Super Show. I was not disappointed though for unknown reason my body was really hurt so bad afterward. In fact it's fantastically very satisfying for me and maybe it's the most beautiful concert/stage I've ever seen ♥. The visual effects for each stage are very very amazing 0A0 (especially for Lunar Eclipse stage, just wow ♥) and also the floating light bulbs which kept changing their color and formation, it was so beautiful and added some magical atmosphere on the stage. The 3 of them showed their best vocal performance especially Yesung because people have missed him like crazy and this was his first performance in my country after he finished his mandatory. Moreover we also got Teuki oppa joined this concert and gave his best singing Huh Gak's Hello, also he added some funny and cheerful atmosphere on the stage xD. All of them showed their best performance on this last KRY tour, but for me the memorable ones were from Ryeowook and Kyuhyun, maybe because this was their last concert here before their enlistment this year so I felt a bit emotional :')

Ryeowook moved me hard by adorably using a lot of Bahasa Indonesia; in his speech, his cute letter and songs, and he's really good in it ♥. I've expected they would sing at least one Indonesia song, instead we got Ryeowook singing 2 songs ; "Separuh Aku" by Noah (one of the most popular band in my country, btw) and "Bunga Terakhir" by Bebi Romeo which he has ever sung at last SS6 here. AND HE SANG THEM AMAZINGLY IN PITCH PERFECT I STILL CANNOT MOVE ON FROM THEM ;A; ♥. I'm not really listening to my own country songs but I really like this Ryeonggu's version, hahaha xp.

Then for the ballad prince Cho Kyuhyun, he's so evil to make me cried several times, and this time was not exception. I had a hope he would sing his last beautiful single "멀어지던 날 (The Day We Felt the Distance)" but instead he sang his very famous cover song from Park Hyo Shin, "야생화 (Wild Flower)" which I also really love so much. I was not expecting that and it hit the soft spot in me, seeing him sang it with my own eyes then unconsciously my eyes shed a LOT of tears TTTwTTT. Bad you but ♥ you and your heavenly voice, ChoKyu TTvTT

Though I feel so thankful I decided to attend KRY INA, it was still a bittersweet moment. This concert is the last SJ/KRY tour in my country before they take quite a long hiatus (3-effin'-years start last year) and Ryeowook-Kyuhyun will soon join the other 5 at the mandatory service sometime in this year. I've been missing the enlisted members so bad and soon gonna miss the vocalist magnaes T^T
But well they're still here and there was a news Ryeowook and Kyuhyun (AGAIN) will soon release a solo album. YAY! Definitely cannot wait! 8D
People actually have anticipated Yesung's solo album since he released from the army but I think I can understand why they plan to release KyuWook's instead. Like... Kyu is really using this 'group-resting' moment very diligently huh but I definitely not against it ♥

So yeah what a great thing to start a year for me! =D
I really hope I can back active in here, writing some reviews or stuffs. Well I've stated this won't be only a book review blog tho so if maybe if you don't like the content of my blog, although it might sadden me... well u can do thing you want to do ;)

Have a nice day, everyone! ^^

Okay, so today before I go to vacation for 10 days ahead, I want to show you some K-goods I've gotten this month.
My sister and me ordered like tons of things and have expected to get most of them in the end of July, but we got only less than a half of the total *lesigh*. Well, at least they're nice though and I especially really happy to get them.
So yeah, here they are! =)

Pirate Roulette

Not exactly a K-pop thing, but if you like watching Running Man, this thing must be familiar for you =D. I've really wanted this since the first I saw Running Man playing with it and finally we can get it with a quite reasonable price. We have so much fun playing this game xD
Originally I didn't plan to buy these two albums but I was sold by some unboxing videos and yeah I got this, YAY!
... and I got Myungsoo (a.k.a L) and Hoya PC! =D
Too bad Evolution doesn't come with photocard, I bet the PC would be really awesome.

review

So you may ask, if I have read Insurgent like ages ago, why I make a review just now?

Simply because, you know, how hard it is to write a review for a book you absolutely, hardcore-ly adore, even though I've read it twice, my mind could not arrange right words for it (so I choose to procrastinating, okay I'm a bad, lazy ass-hat girl). But since I've finished Allegiant, the last book in this series, I feel so wrong if I don't write any reviews of Divergent's sequels, which one of the most beloved series of mine. So here I am, pouring down my thoughts about this book =). I think most of people already read the first book, Divergent. Nevertheless, I still have to warn you that this review might contains spoilers, though I'll my best to minimize it. I've already warned you in the beginning.

----------------------------------

"I wake with his name in my mouth. Will."

Okay, here's the fact : reading Insurgent was pretty tiring for me, pity my little brain.

I seriously got a massive headache once I finished this book (at the first time) because of the never-ending tension and adrenaline rush inside my head. My brain was lacked of oxygen (I held my breath a lot), it was nearly exploded into some ugly lumps. Okay I'm exaggerating, almost. Also this book is mostly depressing, self-destructive thoughts, sadness and grief which was altering my mood that day. But thankfully I still could keep my mind intact, could not put this book down once I started because I was so anxious yet super curious to know what would happen next. Even that massive headache I've got didn't prevent me to LOVE this book and read it once more, (and more in the future) because, well, it's still a FANTASTIC sequel from one of the most amazing series I've read.

Ms. Roth successfully put the whole things in a new different level in this sequel. The story develops more complicated and intense, danger seems constantly lurking, the stakes are higher that made my heart pounding very hard in every scenes. Seems there's no safe place for Tris, Four and the rest survivors of the tragedy that have happened at the end of Divergent. Most of characters step on the next stage of difficulties, especially Tris whom we see the whole story from.

Tris is tortured by grief and a guilt she could not tell anybody including Tobias, she blames herself and many times she acts recklessly and puts herself in a dangerous situation. Because Tris can't tell the whole ugly truth yet, she's also facing a great crisis in her relationship with people who are important to her, Tobias and Christina. Also because she's a Divergent, she's hunted, her life and automatically people who is sided her are in a great danger so she tries to protect them though it costs her own life. Sometimes it was pretty depressing, to see Tris facing so many problems in a time and acting so suicidal but it was quite understandable for me since Tris witnessed the tragedy herself and lost so many because of it. Tris is just an average 16 years old human girl after all.

Like I've said before, the relationship between Tris and Tobias also enters a new level. They face a big mistrust issue which puts their relationship into a bad condition. But thankfully it doesn't add a deep scratch on Tris' already-bleeding-wound and it is still so wonderful and respectable. I loved when Tobias isn't only loving and respecting Tris, he also doesn't hesitate to scold Tris and put their relationship in an edge. They also still maintain some sweet moments , not too explicit but enough to soften the hard tension I've felt through the entire book.

While Divergent told us more about Abnegation, Dauntless and a tiny bit of Erudite, in Insurgent we learn more about Aminity, Candor, Erudite and even Factionless. I really enjoyed those part and made me admired Veronica Roth more, how thoroughly she created this dystopian world, the factions and each characteristics, the politics and regulations in each faction also the reality that there are still an internal friction no matter how neat and structured it is, as realistic as what have happen in nowadays.

Insurgent, like I've said, is a fantastic, solid sequel for Divergent. It's better not to miss this if you're a fan of Divergent because it doesn't only give a great action, characters and drama, but also serves a story about struggle and forgiveness, how you forgive others and most importantly struggles to make a peace with your won self, then responsibly move on. Sounds cliche but I think it's a good thing to get from reading what you love =).
This book, like another great sequels, has quite a surprising ending which would make you questioning what is actually the whole 'Faction System' about and makes you definitely can't wait to read the next book, like I've felt half a years ago. Since I have finished Allegiant, I definitely can't wait to share my thoughts about it, hopefully very soon.

Happy reading! :)
Summary from Goodreads :

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

Alienated receives such a stellar reviews, everyone seems loving this book so much.
I actually have set my eyes on this book since the news was announced, and it does sound very interesting like a mixing between contemporary and sci-fi. I also need to read more story about alien so I think this book is a great choice.
I can't wait to get this book and devour it! =)
Summary from Goodreads :

Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion...she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit--more sparkly, more fun, more wild--the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket--a gifted inventor--steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

review

"I have three simple wishes. They're really not too much to ask.
The first is to attend the winter formal dressed like Marie Antoinette. I want a wig so elaborate it could cage a bird and a dress so wide I'll only be able to enter the dance through the set of double doors. But I'll hold my skirts high as I arrive to reveal a pair of platform combat boots, so everyone can see that, underneath the frills, I'm a punk rock tough."

---------------------------------------

Because I had soooooo much fun with Anna and the French Kiss last time (Etienne luv luv!) and have already fallen in love with Stephanie Perkins' writing, I was both excited and terrified to read this book because my expectation were somehow already high. I was afraid I would not enjoy Lola as much as I've enjoyed Anna.

And after I finished reading Lola, I have to admit I still love Anna much more.
It doesn't mean Lola is bad. Generally I enjoyed this book quite much so I still give it 4 shining stars (you know I'm kind of too generous in giving stars =p). The story, the characters are still very lovely, relatable and realistic, about a unique girl named Lola who lives with protective two fathers (I loved them by the way) and a lovely dog with attractive name; has a loyal Korean best friend and also befriend with Anna and Etienne (LOVE THEM SO MUCH HERE), loves to wear not just an ordinary clothes as her usual attire, but a full costume; and out of the blue she's torn between 2 attractive boys in their own way. I was happy to meet different circumstances and unique people in this book. I also loved the relationship between Lola and people around her, and especially with her biological mother which develops more and more every page. I can say that somehow this book is more complex, if you compare to Anna's which seems common and normal. But because this book is very relatable and realistic; like I've said before; I could not help but analyzed and made several personal judgements based on my personal values and I found some of Lola's were not very suitable to me.

My problem with Lola was somehow I found a double-standard in Lola's wearing-costume habit---which actually the most unique point of her---as her daily attire. Actually this was a thing that made me a bit nervous to read at first. For me, wearing costume could have two meaning : you just like to be stand out and have a plenty confidence of it, or you don't have enough confidence of yourself without costumes covers it. And Lola is most likely the first and then develops to the second. So while I read this whole book from Lola's head, I also thought which was the real Lola. Thankfully Ms. Perkins vocalizes this question of mine through Max, Lola's former boyfriend so I could feel it wasn't only me who disappointed with her. And maybe a love triangle which involves 2 people who are already a couple, lies and cheating is really not my thing. Quite personal, eh? =)
Nevertheless, beside all the fuss about self-confidence, Lola is still a lovely girl and I really admired her guts to be different and very passionate about it. I also loved to read how she grows maturer and willing to give a chance to people who have ever hurt her in the past. She definitely stood out, unique and unforgettable.

Yes, of course this book has several fabulous side characters!
I was really happy when I heard Anna and Etienne make some appearances in here and was grinning like an idiot when I met this lovely couple. They stole my attention though they briefly shown up because.... THEY'RE JUST THAT LOVELY! *emotional*. And Ms. Perkins created a unique and fabulous boy for Lola, Cricket Bell *can you guess from who he gets the 'Bell' name? :)*.
I found Cricket was very very different from the other YA contemporary love-interest who is usually super popular hotty with hot body, nice hair, a party-go-er, a bad-boy, and another droll-worthy qualities; that made him unique. Cricket maybe has not fully developed his physical qualities yet (well, who knows?) but he was certainly hot in his own brainy way, I definitely agree with Lola for this one. Though sometimes I like, okay, love to read about bad-boys, in reality I appreciate good-and-smart-boy much more and Cricket is one of perfect good-and-smart-boy image for me (after Etienne). He's literally an inventor, very nice, slightly shy and awkward which makes him more adorable, and I LOVEEEEEEEEEED his preppy style (THANK YOU SO MUCH MS.PERKINS), it accentuates his smartness more. Fashionable brainy is new sexy =).

Lola and the Boy Next Door is a fun, cute and fabulous contemporary reading with realistic, imperfect but lovable characters you could not help but in love with. Despite my very personal issue, I still fully recommend this book if you love realistic contemporary story. Stephanie Perkins is officially my favorite contemporary author and I can't wait to read the next companion book, Isla and the Happily Happy After which (finally) will be released this year, silently hope I could meet either Anna-Etienne nor Lola-Cricket.

Happy reading! =)
Aaaah lovely books~ =D
I really want to read at least one classic work this year, after I watched BBC's Sherlock (and I absolutely love that series!), I think I would try to read Sherlock Holmes books. I surprise with Ink's book appearance, it's not usually this 'glossy' cover, instead they use like... Canson paper probably? Pretty, but worrying =p.

Well those are on my Stacking the Shelves this week. What's on yours?
Have a great weekend guys =)
Author : Gretchen McNeil
Publisher : Balzer + Bray
Source : Bought
Pages : 320 (Paperback)

Summary from Goodreads :

From Possess author Gretchen McNeil comes this teen horror novel inspired by Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Perfect for fans of Christopher Pike’s Chain Letter and Lois Duncan’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, Ten will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page!

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie are looking forward to two days of boys, booze, and fun-filled luxury. But what starts out as fun turns twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine. And things only get worse from there.

With a storm raging outside, the teens are cut off from the outside world . . . so when a mysterious killer begins picking them off one by one, there’s no escape. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on one another, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

review

Firstly I need to confess that I'm a big fan of Agatha Christie's 'And Then There Were None' (it's an amazing thriller novel and you should try to read it too! =D) and also since I'm one of those amazing 90's kids, I've watched a couple of that 90's horror and thriller teen movie (sadly I missed 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' but I was fan of 'Scream' series). So the summary above is very familiar to me and because I knew from where the idea was, I thought the storyline would be pretty predictable. Nevertheless, I was pretty excited to read this book. I also actually have never read any book from Gretchen McNeil and have never read any teen thriller and horror novels before (I dislike Goosebumps because I'm a coward and hate the horror-after-effect because I'm quite imaginative *facepalm*) so this was adding fuel on my excitement and wanted to know if this book and the author would work on me. And guess, it does work on me, definitely! =D

This book is even beyond my expectation; though I was excited, I didn't put too much expectation because, you know, it gets just so-so rating. I enjoyed this book quite much, could hardly put it down because I wanted to know what would happen next and was very curious who the hell the culprit is. I like McNeil's writing here. The story moves swiftly in a quick, fast pace without being too forced, I think there are no single unnecessary and wasted scene because, well, the whole things set in only three days, but I barely realized it. I also think McNeil created some nice twists and modifications in this teeny version of ATTWN so it would not exactly like the original one, like the appearance of mysterious DVD which reminded me of 'The Ring' (the japanese version btw, I don't watch the Western one because having watched 3 volumes in a row is already too overwhelming for me, ugh), changes the nursery rhyme and 'prediction' how each of them would die into a diary of a dead girl (it's bloody brutal, I've warned you), changes the reason why everybody should be dead, and of course with a cliche high school love story like a popular boy falls in love with just an average-but-smart girl (which is my favorite formula, actually =p). I know those are not so original but I think it's still enjoyable and add some interests into the story, especially if you haven't read 'And Then There Were None' or watched any 90's horror-thriller movies.

Saw the story inside Meg's head as the main character and the main voice, I also could feel the fear she feels (thanks to the great writing) and could not help but kept guessing the murderer along with her. Although she's a smart and a kind girl, I have to admit that there's nothing special about her, I even thought she's kind of pathetic. I think the other characters are actually more colorful and have certain traits although they mostly are not good person. Maybe because most people will die in the end, McNeil created some fellows that are actually jerks and would not be missed or make us feeling loss if they're gone. TJ as the love interest also... well, just the average nice and hot boy who has a crush on our Meg. Just... nothing special. Nevertheless they add their own stories in the bigger picture and since the start the focus of the story is not about character's development but more about their each role in this story. I was also surprised with the identity of the murderer at the near-end of the story, totally unexpected and never thought it would be 'you'! Wow!

I guess I'm a person who don't always take 'unoriginality' and 'familiarity' as a bad thing and just enjoy it as it is, so I give it solid 4 stars. It gave me a great high-tension and bone-chilling moments when I read it in the middle of the night.
I'm not ensuring you would absolutely enjoy and love 'Ten' since almost the whole thing in it is pretty familiar and also it has several flaws. But you should give it a try especially if you have an interest into horror-mystery-thriller reading but you don't know where to start and probably you'd enjoy or even love this book if you have never heard or read about Agatha Christie or never watched 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' or 'Scream'.
Happy reading! =D

Goodreads Reading Challenge

The annual challenge I participate every year. I challenge myself to read 60 books this year, a descent number so I won't feel burdening myself.

Dystopia Reading Challenge 2014

Actually I'm a bit reluctant to participate in reading challenge aside of Goodreads', I'm afraid I would feel reading as an obligation and I couldn't finish it in the end. But I think I would enjoy this one. I love read Dystopia series, and I also have plenty Dystopia books that still need to be read so I decided to participate in this challenge. I set myself to reach Level 2 : Rebel first by reading around 7-12 books, though there's always a possibility to read more than that. If you love Dystopia and interest to join in too, visit Blog of Erised for further information.

I'm optimist I can earn Bronze Badge =). If you also want to participate visit Read. Sleep. Repeat. for further information.
So yeah! I hope I would enjoy and have fun reading good readings this year =)
by Aimee Carter
Expected publication: November 26th 2013

Summary from Goodreads :

For Kitty Doe, it seems like an easy choice. She can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by the higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country.

If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked - surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister's niece, who died under mysterious circumstances. As a member of the Hart family, she will be famous. She will be adored. And for the first time, she will matter.

There's only one catch. She must also stop the rebellion that Lila secretly fostered, the same one that got her killed, and one Kitty believes in. Faced with threats, conspiracies and a life that's not her own, she must decide which path to choose and learn how to become more than a pawn in a twisted game she's only beginning to understand.

First : the cover, somehow intriguing.
Second : dystopia, baby. That's cool and I love this genre.
Third : the premise sounds really promising and quite original, I've never heard something similar before.
I've also never read anything from Aimee Carter before, I see her series "Goddess Test" everywhere but still yet need to read it someday. I know this has been published a while ago so probably some of have read it. You may provide me your opinion about this book. =)
Ufufufu~ akhirnya saya memutuskan untuk ikutan blog meme "Buying Monday" *maap Aul baru sekarangan aja ikutan hahaha*. Sebenernya sih konsepnya sama aja kayak STS yah, cuma karena STS kmrn itu rekapan dari 'dosa-dosa' beberapa bulan, jadi akhirnya saya putusin bikin post tersendiri untuk Buying Monday. Mostly adalah buku2 yang datang bulan lalu karena semuanya saya beli via online di BWB dan Book Depository, check this out yo :
Hi everyone~, how are you doing?

At first... YESH I'M STILL ALIVE. YAY!

... although this blog is <strike>pretty dead</strike> in state of coma *lesigh*

Seems like I could not keep the promise to improve this blog nor my reviewing skill this year. There were a lot of things happened on me these months which killed my blogging mood. For some reason I could not enjoy any activities aside of reading and watching some tv shows, that included blogging so yeah you see this blog is pretty dead. I feel so sorry and so sad because of it and I really miss this world where I can meet wonderful people around the world who have the same hobby with me.

FYI, I finally left the old problematic job behind and got a new one I've really wanted for so long and I move outside the town for it. But apparently the new job is really different from what I've expected and imagined it would be. I ended dislike it even at the first work day, grew really depressed and frustrated even I cried at the office. Tough life and I keep asking God what would He want with giving this job to me *lesigh*. But don't worry guys, I'm fine right now, crying has quite a great after-effect on me. I'll just move on and take the positive side of it, while I look for another nice job which I'd enjoy later and improve my skill in designing and visualizing. And of course, start blogging again!

So that's it guys. I hope I could see you soon in a new review or other post ^^. Have a dazzling day guys!

I know it's just teaser movie poster, but I love this one than the original movie cover, pretty cool! =p

I was quite excited when I heard Sea of Monster were adapted into a movie considering the predecessor did not do well. In the Lightening Thief I felt I've lost Percy's and Annabeth's characters I love from the book but I was still excited though. After I watched the movie, I thought it was pretty okay and entertaining, more because I almost forgot the story of the novel, I read it several years ago. I was quite thankful I almost forgot it because they made a hella major change, it had very different storyline from the novel although the point was still the same (after I re-checked and re-read some part from the novel). It's understandable if most of Percy Jackson series fans were pretty disappointed because I felt that way as well. Here's my pros and cons list about this movie:

PRO (may contain spoilers):
- Annabeth was blond, finally
- the movie fixed Tyson's appearance to be more human and more nice-looking. He's cute and so in love with his brother in Poseidon, Percy, I like him =)
- the CG and effects were quite good, I especially loved how Hippocampus looks in this movie.
- I liked they cast Nathan Fillion as Hermes, with his two funny talking snakes called Martha and George. I was happy they're exist xD
- Thalia was exist in movie version, and how she resurrected *oops* in the end of the movie means there were a possibility for Curse of the Titan to be adapted into a movie as well.
- Clarisse did exist as well, though she's too pretty compare to how I've imagined her
- The movie is friendly enough and more general. I think this movie can be enjoyed by those who haven't read the books or watched the first movie.

CON :
- no matter how hard I want to understand, still, it's a waaaaaaaaaaaay different from the novel version, which is like always, book is always the best
- I didn't really like that Percy's and Annabeth's relationship were already warm and lovey-dovey. Where's the witty, sarcastic banter? I actually really wanted to hear Annie called Percy 'seaweed brain'. =_=
- Annabeth was, excuse my word, pretty useless in here. I've hoped him being more kick-ass and got more action scenes than just a smart-ass girl with a kind of demigod-tablet.
- Somehow I didn't really like the less-fierce version of Clarisse in here /:. She should be more biatchy and villain-like
- WHERE'S BLACKJACK???? Rawr! He should be appeared in this sequel, right? T^T
- Some demigod-traitors were already revealed in here and I was like "EEEEEH???? 0_o"
- I also disliked that Luke's last scene was shown more like comical scene /:

Such a mixed feeling, but well it's still enjoyable. Just forget the book and enjoy the movie.
I hope they would make the next sequel, The Titan's Curse so I could see Blackjack, Zoey Nightshade and Nico there.

Review :
This book has sat for more than a year on my shelf before I finally read it, and one of those books I decided to buy based on a pretty cover and a feeling that this book might be good. But of course, there was a bit hesitation because I actually had no idea what the story was about, the blurb and trailer didn't say much. I was afraid I wouldn't like this book though my friend loved this book and highly recommend it to me, until I read it myself. I feel really bad for abandoning this book for such a long time because it's REALLY GOOD! REALLY REALLY GOOD. I was glad that 'science fiction' tag is not only a bluff. I enjoyed reading this book so much, even brought my hardcover copy to my office (which obviously added a trouble lifting my heavy bag) because I wanted to know what would happen next. Well-paced and unpredictable, jam-packed with action and high stakes, with emotional, beautiful writing and engaging characters that will make you love them each page!

At first I was confused where the sci-fi and countdown-to-the-end-of-the-world part in this book, though it's still highly entertaining for me. At early pages we learn more about Janelle and her ordinary yet tough life. Also, it seemed more like criminal story because Janelle put a lot interest on her father's cases, and the last one is quite bizarre, involved a kind of bio-terrorism which put quite a disturbing image in my head. But then everything gets more exciting and becomes clear one by one after Janelle gets hit by a truck from nowhere, literally dead and gets resurrected by a mysterious boy named Ben Michaels. What's the connection between Ben Michaels, sort of bio-terrorism, and apocalypse? This book made me guessing a lot and yes, unpredictable. I really didn't see them coming and I really really LOVED that part =D

Since the start, I already fell in love with Janelle. I emotionally touched by her raw voice and thoughts, I easily connected to her interesting personality. She doesn't fake how tiring her life is and act a lot like normal girl who faces the same thing in the real world, still she love her family so much and takes a good care of them even her bipolar mother. Thankfully she's also surrounded by awesome people like her FBI father, her little brother Jared, and her best friend Alex and Cecily who helps her going through. It makes her grows a lot maturer and stronger, a bit cynical and sarcastic, also has a big curiosity because of her father influence. And of course there's Ben Michaels, the tragic beauty, but lovely Ben Michaels. I was so touched by everything he does for his friends and especially for Janelle *melting*. I think he's one of unique hero I've known and he's very complicated, not include his real identity, and I already add him to my too-long book-boyfriend list =D.
The secondary characters who keep showing up are very likable as well, like Jared, Struz, Cecily, Elijah and the others. They have their own unique personality that enrich the story. And just a warning, if you like one of them, just prepare your heart to badly break later. The ending part is so heart-breaking it brought tears on me, and made me want to start reading Unbreakable right away!

Overall, if you are a fan TV series like 24, Fringe, X-Files or Veronica Mars (I just copy it from everywhere else. I actually haven't watch any of them, yeah I'm so lame =_=), a fan of Sci-fi, Criminal and even Dystopia with great main characters, and don't mind reading "F" word that scatters like everywhere, you really don't want to miss this series! Romance doesn't take a big part in this book, remind you, but in my opinion, for this book small portion doesn't lessen the meaning =). I even think to start hunting some of TV series above because of this book ;p. Thank you Liz Norris for writing such an amazing series!

Happy reading! =)
by Elle Cosimano
Expected publication: March 25th 2014

Summary from Goodreads :

Bones meets Fringe in a big, dark, scary, brilliantly-plotted urban thriller that will leave you guessing until the very end.

Nearly Boswell knows how to keep secrets. Living in a DC trailer park, she knows better than to share anything that would make her a target with her classmates. Like her mother's job as an exotic dancer, her obsession with the personal ads, and especially the emotions she can taste when she brushes against someone's skin. But when a serial killer goes on a killing spree and starts attacking students, leaving cryptic ads in the newspaper that only Nearly can decipher, she confides in the one person she shouldn't trust: the new guy at school—a reformed bad boy working undercover for the police, doing surveillance. . . on her.

Nearly might be the one person who can put all the clues together, and if she doesn't figure it all out soon—she'll be next.

Nearly Gone won't be released until March 2014 but I'm already excited to read it. It sounds like a great read about a girl with a lot of 'dark' secrets yet suddenly she gets involved in one crime scene and have to work together with a hot, bad boy who's working with police, just exactly my thing! =D
I made my own TTT's banner with kind of vintage feeling. I'll use that from now on. What do you think of it? ;)

I only have a little reading time per day because of my full time job (and because I'm a crappy procrastinator and also suddenly I'm not really in the mood to read any book) so I have accomplished just less than a half from the target of Goodreads reading challenge until I had reducing number of book I'll read this year. Sigh. And I have tendency not to read the new release right away and let them piled up on my shelf so yeah probably most of books from this list are not new releases.

The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead
I love this series very much, and it's because of Adrian Ivashkov. I tell you enough ;)

Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
I've never thought I would love this series before but I do! The best paranormal romance series I've read this year! And yes it's because of Kaidan Rowe ;)

Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins
The sequel of Sweet Evil and it's more amazing than the predecessor! Love this so much =D

The Host by Stephenie Meyer
I have hesitated a lot to read this book because of intimidating book size (the version I've read is huge and thick) and I finally read it before the movie hit the theater. And guess what, I love it! =)

Through The Ever Night by Veronica Rossi
Another sequel I've waited the most, and it's even more intense, amazing and also heart-breaking than before! Totally awesome!

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
Maybe it would be in everyone's list. I love how Clare did to 'solve' the most beautiful love triangle ever in this book. Love Will Herondale very much!

Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris
Just finished this book yesterday and wow I feel bad for abandoning this book for more than a year, can you believe it?! Because this book is really cool and awesome, everybody should read this book! And yeah BEN MICHAELS FOR LIFE! =D

Noah by Elizabeth Reyes
This book offers a controversial love story between younger guy and much older girl (age gap almost 10 years old) and I used to feel awkward about it. But the author did a good job turning it to be a sweet love story ever. Love it! =)

Yep, only eight of them because I don't read many books this year *sobs*

What do you think about books above? Are some of them also in your list?
So what books are in your list this week? =)
Dapet tag dari sodara sepupu saya Zenia untuk ikutan Rapid Fire Question! Thank you so much~~~ it looks so fun! =D
So rupanya ini adalah semacam meme pertanyaan berantai yang diadakan sama salah satu anggota BBI, dan ternyata saya bisa ikutan juga walopun masih belum jadi anggotanya.
Anyway, sebenernya saya udah bikin draft pertanyaan dalam bahasa inggris, tapi asli agak susah and a bit awkward gitu, jadi saya putuskan pake bahasa asli kita saja Bahasa Indonesia.

So, let's check this out, yo!

Jadi... both lah =)

2. pinjam atau beli buku?
mungkin cenderung beli, saya org yang lebih suka 'punya sendiri' daripada pinjem org lain. Mangkanya ngga kaya2, wkkk.
Lagian pengalaman beberapa kali pinjem buku temen cuma yang tertentu aja yg kebaca, sisanya dibiarkan berdebu di meja dan berakhir dibalikin tanpa dibaca.

3. baca buku atau nonton film?
I like both, tapi kayaknya lebih banyak menghabiskan waktu baca buku. But yeah, I like both =)

penting dong. Rasanya sayang kalo ngliat kertas yang terlipat buat batas buku gt

10. bookmark atau bungkus chicki?
gyaaaaa BIG NO WAY klo pake bungkus chiki! pake bookmark lah atau pakai potongan kertas gt.

udah pasti dong, COVER.
Saya org yg judging book by its cover akut, suka bgt ma cover yang bagus dan cantik =p

So that's my answers =)
Saya ngga ngasi 5 pertanyaan balik karena kayaknya udah terlambat saya ngeposnya but still it's fun =)
Happy reading guys! ;)

Maybe it's a bit shallow or just because I love arts, but for me, cover probably is one of the most important aspect that can make me decided if I would read or purchase certain book or not. I do a lot judging book by its cover though I know it's wrong. Bad cover will make me quite bad mood and though the story might be nice, I could loss any interest on the book. Yeah that's me =).
With no particular order, here's covers of books I've read that I love :
Article 5 by Kristen Simmons
I always love color combination of black, white and red like Article 5 cover, plus a boy and a girl who are facing the devastated city, so fascinating!

Across the Universe by Beth Revis
Unlike most of others, I prefer this cover version than the hardcover one. This is very cool and have more sci-fi feeling.

Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren
Look how puh-ree-tee this cover is! Love how it has meadieval feeling in it. =D I was so eager to read this book just because the cover (and thankfully the story is as beautiful as the cover! =D)

Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi
This series has very pretty cover, and I really love this one. Love the color and Perry in there! =D

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer L. Smith
Another black-white-red combination, this book was really catching my eyes at first sight. and I really LOVE the fun and interesting typography =)

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
Actually I'm cheating, I read the translation version with very different cover which is quite okay, but I really love the original version especially this UK one, for the entire books of this series. It's really creative, looks cute and intriguing at the same time

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
I love how they arranged the picture and the titles and makes St.Clair 'mysterious'. Quite simple and lovely.

Matched by Ally Condie
This is one example how something simple could be so attractive. I really love this cover! (<strike>though I didn't really love the story =p</strike>) And it goes perfectly with the storyline. So fascinating!

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
One of simple but really fascinating cover. Actually it has very less touch but the picture, the mysterious and dark feeling inside and the fonts are perfectly combined it makes this book very intriguing and makes people very curious about this book. LOVE!

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
I really love this series's cover, especially Clockwork Princess. I feel the designer pulled out their best effort and did their best to design the covers. So breathtakingly beautiful!

... and suddenly I realize I picked some certain color tones and I swear I don't do it on purpose. Do you notice it? ;D
Is there any cover you also love from what I pick above? What do you think about them?
Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, the Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive—this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone’s out for blood.

Book trailer :
This book has a LOT of trailers which have a LOT of Sydrian moments! YAY! Just check THIS out, will ya! ;)

Review :
May contain spoiler from Bloodlines and The Golden Lily though I try to minimize it, so if you haven't read The Golden Lily of even haven't start this series, you might want to skip this review. If you want to risk, just go ahead ;).

As quite a big fan of VA and Bloodlines series, of course I was as really excited as the others to read The Indigo Spell (I even watched the trailers, SIX awesome trailers over and over again!), so when this book came I immediately push aside the other books I've planned to read at that time and read this with ridiculous excitement. I couldn't wait to meet the beloved characters here, a.k.a Sydney and ADRIAN, the ADRIAN IVASHKOV, gosh now positively I love him more than Dimitri! =D
Anyway, of course I loved this book! At first I was afraid the relationship between Sydney and Adrian would be back forward or be awkward because of unfortunate event at the end of The Golden Lily, but thankfully it's all still very normal, as normal as Sydney and Adrian have been before with all funny, witty, swoon-worthy moments, mostly from Mr. Ivashkov =D.

Like always, I really enjoyed how Mead carefully and steadily developed everything in each volume. Sydney, for some reason, has been taking a special place in my heart since I read about her for the first time in Blood Promise and I admire her more in this book! Sydney grows more rebellious and involves deeper in magic world as she starts to question the Alchemist' reliability. She grows more endearing and 'stronger', and also she finally follows her heart regarding to irresistible Adrian Ivashkov. I think I can't thank Ms. Mead enough for created a creature as 'perfect and imperfect in the same time' as Adrian! I love seeing him grows a lot maturer and steadier, far away from a rich-spoiled-drunkard boy in VA. His love to Sydney is very strong and unwavering, he never stops supporting Sydney and always be there for her and I loved to see how Sydney, though in a kind of denial, mutually responds to it. Their adorable interaction is my most favorite part, reading them made me smile widely and swoon heavily! I was soooooo glad finally Sydney takes a very important decision developing her relationship with Adrian to the very next step! =DDD

One thing that actually quite a disappointment of this book for me is Marcus Finch. I was expecting his appearance would twist some aspects, well a little part in me hoped he would be Adrian's rival (I know I was being very rude to beloved Adrian to have a thought like that *while hiding from raging fangirls*) or anything that would make the story be more exciting since he seemed having a special promotion pre-publication. In reality, maybe Adrian has landed a good punch on him but otherwise he almost has no meaningful role even at some times I annoyed at how he thinks and behaves. But I know how genius Richelle Mead is at shocking us so I still have this faith Mead would develop Marcus' role in the future books.

Now I'm very thrilled to read The Fiery Heart, since we'll see the story from Adrian's point of view as well! WOW! =D. I can't wait to read what would happen to Sydney and Adrian after unexpected thing happened at the ending. Mead also has promised us an important scene as powerful as in Shadow Kissed, which quite worry me. I also can't wait to dive into the magic world with Sydney as I found it's very interesting. Can not wait until November! =D
Review:
I need to confess that at first I decided to buy Sweet Evil because of the cover, look how pretty it is! For the story, actually I didn't expect too much, I even have prepared myself I might not like this book because from the revealed summary, the story could go wrong like some other books about Angels and Demons. But maybe it's a perk of not expect anything on the first place, because this book is surprisingly very AMAZING! I totally fall in love with the story!
The story is well-balance, not too complicated, not too paranormal, even feels a bit more contemporary, but it's still very intriguing and fascinating, thanks to Wendy Higgin's exceptional writing skill! The characters are so wonderful and charming in their own way and talking about the chemistry between them especially the romance between Anna and Kaidan, WOW! Even the 'almost' moments can be so steamy and sexy *fanning myself*. Glad to find another refreshing Angel series which is quite unique and original, evil yet sweet in the same time, the title tells it damn right! =D

Higgins took a different side of Nephilim and mixed it with seven deadly sins concept (and she even added some sins). It's very interesting and I enjoy every detail of it. They are sons and daughters between demons and humans and they have a purpose in this earth, to spread bad influences to humans in this world based on their demon-parents job. This concept was actually the one that make me a bit worried at first. I really love Anna's characters and can easily relate her to myself. I loved and respected her for being such an angel, so genuinely good, and not that sickening kind of good, innocent and sweet, willing to control herself to refuse any bad temptations. But then she meets Kaidan Rowe, a nephilim, a son of Demon of Lust who literally flips her world almost upside-down. While I read this book, I was actually waiting for the moment when Anna would disappoint me, like turned to be a new bad girl since she was mandated to be one, lost all the goodness in her in the name of love to Kaidan. Well, I can't actually blame her though because who won't be in love to a hot, perfect bad boy like him??? Instead, every page made me so excited, I didn't find any single disappointing moment. I even grew to love Anna and Kaidan more on each page! Thanks God! Anna is still the good Anna although she grows stronger and more determined than before and Kaidan totally stole my heart. I found myself rooting for the forbidden love between Anna and Kaidan, I sympathized him so much and felt bad for everything that happened on him and other fellow nephilims.
The support characters are also very wonderful. I really liked Patty and Anna's demon father. He's very cool! I also especially enjoyed fun moments we met other nephilims like Kopano, Blake, Marna and Ginger.

I used to be a bit worry about this, but in reality thankfully I wasn't. One thing you should know, Higgins subtly included some religious (Christianity) aspects in this book. So obvious but yet not too overwhelming so it can be enjoyed by all people. And what made me so grateful is that she did it with a lot of respect. I didn't find it offending at all and the Christian side of me still can enjoy it as a part of fiction's flavoring. Thank you so much, Wendy Higgins! =D

Right now I'm impatiently waiting for my copy of the sequel, Sweet Peril. The ending was very heartbreaking and my heart bled for Kaidan actually, yeah he successfully makes me so cheesy *sobs*. I really can't wait to know what would happen with Anna, Kaidan and the other Nephilims on the next book! =D
Of course I have to highly recommend it to everyone, though considering some steamy scenes in this book (and Kaidan is son of Demon of Lust, you can guess what would you find then) maybe this book is more suitable for older young adults. However, this book is well worth to be read so don't miss this awesome debut series! Oh, and maybe you want to read two special chapters from Kaidan's POV that you can find on here (chapter 1) and here (chapter 26). Trust me they are so swoooooooooon-worthy! ;D
Happy reading! =)
